Sky Safari has an advanced search function, you can build sophisticated observing lists right there in the field. If you ever observe double stars, Sky Safari computes the orbits of short period binaries. For many objects there are written descriptions that include images and observing tips. The databases are huge and provide much more information about each object than Stellarium. Sky Safari Basic, Plus and ProĪs a planetarium, it is much more capable than the "full" Stellarium. The Plus version which is $15 also has that capability. I'm sure it's a great program, but since I take my laptop with me, I have the full Stellarium in the field, and that works for what I want, plus it controls the mount.
